Five West Australians will begin their quest to qualify for Wimbledon 2025 when qualifying commences on Monday.

Fresh off his Ilkley Challenger title-winning campaign, Tristan Schoolkate leads the local contingent, and hopes to make his first Wimbledon main-draw appearance. The world No.106 not only is vying to build on his grasscourt form, but to feature inside the ATP top 100 for the first time.

Schoolkate has had an impressive last 12 months, making the second round of the main draw of the US Open and Australian Open.

Aiming to flip the script on his Wimbledon 2024 qualifying campaign, where he suffered a straight-sets loss in the opening round to Bosnian, Damir Dzumhur.

Talia Gibson (world No. 129) will go into Wimbledon qualifying as WA’s best chance of a main draw appearance. Gibson will be seeded during qualifying, with Gibson achieving the feat for the second straight major.

Gibson will be out to go one better than last year, Gibson advanced to the final round of qualifying in 2024, succumbing to American Katie Volynets in straight sets.

The West Aussie is also in form, having secured her maiden major win at the 2025 Australian Open and first against a player ranked in the WTA top-100, when she defeated world No. 94 Zeynep Sönmez in the first round.

Other West Aussies vying for a spot in the main draw are Astra Sharma (world No. 143), who will be looking to qualify for the third time with her most recent main draw appearance coming in 2022.

Maddison Inglis (world No. 146) will also be in the same boat as she looks to qualify for the main draw for the first time since 2022. Last year Inglis was so close to qualifying, going down in the final qualifier in straight sets. Inglis will be joined by Taylah Preston (world No. 187), who will look to qualify for the Wimbledon main draw for the first time in her career.

The men’s qualifying begins later today while the women’s qualifying will begin on Tuesday.
