Local Tennis players seek to qualify for the Darwin Junior International in Darwin, NT.

The Darwin and NT International events form a part of the ITF World Junior Tour, which is a global tournament series for players aged 18 and under. The Tour provides a pathway for young players to develop their skills, gain experience, earn ranking points and compete in tournaments around the world, including the Junior Grand Slams.

112 junior athletes will compete over the course of the event with players traveling from around Australia, as well as from Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, China and India. This first event begins with a qualifying competition, with 32 boys and 32 girls vying for 8 main draw spots respectively. Successful qualifiers will earn World Ranking points, a key factor in their progression towards higher rankings and qualification for major international events, such as Junior Grand Slams.

Several local players have secured places in the Qualifying for the Darwin International. They will be competing for a place in the Main Draw at the Darwin International Tennis Centre. Come and cheer them on!

NT boys in qualifiers:

• Imogen Hoppo (Tennis Palmerston)
